Johnson, Lawson named Wolverines of the Week

DOVER, Del. – Senior guard/forward Brionna Johnson and junior guard JW Lawson were named Wesley Wolverines of the Week for Feb. 5-12.

Lawson tallied 29 points on the week, including netting 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting against third-ranked Christopher Newport.

Lawson has recorded 357 points this season. Lawson ranks fourth in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game. Lawson has notched five games with twenty or more points, with a season-high 35 points against George Fox early in the season. Defensively, Lawson has recorded 81 rebounds, averaging 3.5 per game, and caused 45 turnovers this season.

Johnson registered a season-bests in points and rebounds against York. Johnson scored 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to earn her fifth double-double of the season.

Johnson ranks fifth in the CAC in rebounds, (176) and averages eight boards per game. Johnson has tallied 295 points this season, averaging 13.4 points per game. Johnson is shooting 44 percent from the floor.

The Wolverines will return to action Wednesday, Feb. 15 when they head to Middletown, Pa. to take on the Penn State Harrisburg Lions. The CAC doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
