DOVER, Del. – Wesley College President Robert E. Clark II announced on Wednesday the removal of the "interim" label on Tracey Short's title officially naming her the Director of Athletics for Wesley College.
"Tracey's leadership and dedication to our students, College, and community is unsurpassed," stated President Clark. "Tracey is not only one of our longest standing coaches, but she is also one of the most recognizable and engaged educators on campus. We are excited to have Coach Short as our Director of Athletics and look forward to the successes that lie ahead under her leadership."
Short has been the Interim Director of Athletics since May 2018 following the passing of former Director of Athletics and head football coach Mike Drass. She previously served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance since 2010.
Short will remain the head coach of the Wesley field hockey team, a position she has held since 1995. The 12th winningest active coach in NCAA Division III field hockey, she has tallied 262 wins in her 23 seasons at Wesley. She is a four-time conference Coach of the Year, made 16 conference tournaments, seven Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) playoff appearances, won three conference championships and made the NCAA Tournament three times.
Short is a 1990 graduate of Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a K-12 certification. She excelled in field hockey and softball and was inducted into the Salisbury Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. She received her Master of Education degree from Wesley in 2002.
"I would like to thank President Clark and the rest of the administration for their support and confidence in my abilities to lead the athletic department," said Short. "I would also like to thank the entire athletic staff for their support during this transition. I look forward to leading the department and working towards all of our goals and objectives."
