Julia DeFelice Team Room
The women’s soccer team has enjoyed a lot of success over the past several years and feels great about the addition to their program. Their new state-of-the-art Julia DeFelice Team Room in the Wesley West Fieldhouse. The move gave the team more space and the atmosphere of a Division I facility. “The purpose of the move was to create a more comfortable environment for our student-athletes, as our program continues to grow,” said Head Coach Ed Muntz.
All three phases of the project have been completed, installing custom wooden lockers, complete renovations to the bathroom facility and the new media equipment. The state-of-the-art lockers were custom built and installed by Dains Custom Athletic Lockers, Shell City, Missouri. “DCAL was exactly what we were looking for in a company, the small town approach with the highest quality wooden lockers in the industry,” noted Coach Muntz. Along with the new custom lockers, you will also see a new flat screen television, a multimedia projector with a pull down 106″ screen, 5.1 DVD Surround Sound System with IPOD Connect, carpet flooring and the start of renovations to the study area with computers. The completion to the restroom facility finished the move.
Coach Muntz added, “We want our student athletes to feel at home in their new facility. This will be a room to prepare for practice and games, watch film or just hang out with teammates.”
On November, 16th, 2010, The Women’s Soccer state of the art Team Room was dedicated in memory of Julia DeFelice. “Julia was so passionate about her teammates and Wesley Soccer”, said Coach Muntz. “The Julia DeFelice Team Room will continue her legacy…#10 Forever”. Dedication Plaque Reads:
Julia “Jules” DeFelice (Oct. 1, 1989 – July 16, 2010) was the heart and soul of the Wesley Women’s Soccer program. Her athleticism, passion and zest for life were evident on and off the soccer field.
An Exercise Science major from Tinton Falls, New Jersey, Julia moved onto the College’s Top 20 All-Time scoring list in just three seasons. Her nine goals, six assists and twenty-four career points ranks her 18th in the program’s history.
Though her earthly life was far too short, her spirit lives on through those who know and love her, and through the devotion, sportsmanship and camaraderie of the women’s soccer players at Wesley College.
