DOVER, Del. - Wesley College trailed just 7-6 with 5:24 left in the first half, but Stevenson outscored the Wolverines 16-2 over the remainder of the game for a 23-8 victory.
After Sheree Pleasanton (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) fed Jade Martin (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) to make it 7-6, Kelli Battista scored the first of five Mustang (5-5, 3-2 CAC) goals in a four minute stretch with 3:44 left in the half. Wesley (6-7, 0-5 CAC) got a goal from Leslie Cervenka (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) with 44 seconds to go to cut the halftime deficit to five, 12-7.
Stevenson scored four straight goals to open the second half before Brittany Novak (Abingdon, Md./Edgewood) found the back of the net for Wesley to make it 16-8 with 17:54 remaining.
Martin scored four of Wesley's eight goals, all in the first half. Cervenka had two assists in addition to her goal late in the first half. Brooke Bennett (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) caused three turnovers.
Megan Weiss led Stevenson with four goals and five points in the game. Lauren Zegowitz also scored four times, as did Spencer Kraus, including two in the final three and a half minutes.
Farryn Kauffman (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made 13 saves as the Wolverines were outshot 47-19 in the contest.
Jenny Schroeder made five saves in 43 minutes of action for the Mustangs.
Wesley is idle until a date with No. 1 Salisbury on April 7.
