Baseball Falls To York in CAC 2nd Round

SALISBURY, Md. – Wesley College's baseball team was eliminated from the CAC Tournament with a 6-2 loss to York (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon at SU Baseball Field.  The Wolverines fall to 19-15 on the year while the Spartans improve to 18-16.

A three-run deficit after the top of the second was too much to overcome for Wesley despite cutting the lead to just two runs after the Wolverine half of the second. Sam Farnell recorded an RBI single in the second, his first of three hits on the day, cutting the Spartans lead to 3-1.

York got that run back in the third and added another in the fourth before an RBI double by Jon Carlson scored Farnell in the fifth. The Spartans closed out the scoring with another run in the eighth to take a 6-2 lead, which ended up being the final.

Rob Diamond took the loss for Wesley, allowing just three earned runs over the first five innings.  Andrew Cooper gave up just one run on six hits over the final four innings.

The Wolverines return to action on April 23, when they take on Richard Stockton at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.  Admission is free for all fans in attendance.
