Baseball Blanks Randolph-Macon in Finale

ASHLAND, Va. – Eric Willey threw seven shutout innings as the Wesley College baseball team shutout Randolph-Macon, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Hugh Stephens Field.  The Wolverines close out the regular season at 21-19 while the Yellow Jackets fall to 23-17-1.

A freshman from Seaford, Del., Willey (2-4) scattered seven hits while walking two over seven innings of work to get the win.  Andrew Cooper retired the side in the eighth while Rich Lober earned his seventh save of the year, a new Wesley single-season record.

Steve Perone helped drive in both of Wesley's runs; grounding into a double play with the bases loaded to score Corey Jefferson in the second, before singling home Trevor Mears in the fifth.

Mears finished the day 1-for-1 with a run and two walks while Morgan Rupp was the lone Wolverine with a pair of hits.
