Baseball Tops Penn State Harrisburg 11-2

DOVER, DEL. – The Wesley College men's baseball team defeated Penn State Harrisburg 11-2 in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening at Bob Reed Field.

Wesley moves to 14-11 on the year, 9-5 CAC, while the Nittany Lions fall to 4-21 on the season and 1-12 in league action.

In the top of the first, Penn State Harrisburg struck for their only runs of the game, plating two runners in the top of the first. After two bunt singles, a Troy Taber  two-run double was all the Nittany Lion's could push across home plate.

The Wolverines countered with two runs in the bottom of the second. After a Conner Gobright double, Matt Domian laced his second shot of the season to notch the score at two apiece.

In the fifth, Stan Zulkowski led the inning off with a base on balls before Cody Dmiterchik laced a single. Cory Smith then plated both runners as he hit a scorcher down the left field line for a two-run double. In the sixth, Wesley added another single tally when Gobright led the inning off with a double and moved to third on a balk. He later scored on a sac fly to center off the bat of Domian.

The Wolverines broke the game open with a five run seventh inning. Ron Morello, Eric Speidel, and Domian each singled, while Zulkowski added a double. The Wolverines were patient at the plate, drawing two walks and a hit by pitch in the inning.

In the eighth, Wesley added an insurance run when Smith doubled and was later plated on a triple by Gobright.

Gobright had a game-best three hits while Morello and Domian each recorded multi-hit games. Domian had a game-high five RBI's.

Zach Stuart earned his fifth win of the season, striking out four while allowing five hits and two earned runs in seven innings of work. Clayton Enzman and Derrick Schleich each threw scoreless eighth and ninth innings, respectively.

The Wesley College baseball team returns to the diamond tomorrow when they travel to Eastern for a single nine inning contest. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
