Baseball Falls to Fifth Ranked Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Wesley College's baseball team fell to Salisbury University in an afternoon match-up at SU Baseball Field. The Sea Gulls, ranked fourth in the nation, advance to 3-0 while grabbing their first conference win. The Wolverines fall to 0-4 on the season, 0-3 in CAC action.

Eric Speidel opened the game well for the Wolverines with a homerun on the fourth pitch the first inning to give Wesley an early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, the Sea Gulls rebounded in the bottom of the first with a homer of their own to tie and a single through the right side that scored Jordan Gowe. The Sea Gulls added a run in the second, third and fourth inning and two runs in the fifth to take the score to 7-1 while the Wolverines were hitless until Speidel singled to left.

The Wolverines would put one more run on the board in the top of the eighth but it was not enough to defeat Salisbury who would rally for four runs in the bottom of the same inning. Sam Meck takes the loss for the Wolverines, allowing 5 runs on seven hits, while Dan Fein takes the win, allowing one run on two hits.

Wesley travels to St. Mary's College (Md.) for a 3:30 PM start on Thursday, March 12.
