YORK, Pa. - The Wesley College Baseball team earned a split at York, falling to the Spartans 14-7 in game one before taking game two 7-1.
Trey Mears and Christopher Seibert each homered in game one. Eric Speidel, Dre Jones, Mears, and Mike Calvarese each ripped a pair of hits in the loss. Eric Willey pitched the five innings allowing just one run, but struggled late in his outing, allowing seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Connor Springsteen came in to close out the seventh and finished the game for Wesley.
Wesley led the Spartans for the first five innings, taking a 5-1 lead as Willey shut down the York offense. The Spartans came storming back, scoring all 14 of their runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to earn the 14-7 comeback win.
In game two, eight of the nine Wolverines in the starting lineup earned at least one hit with seven of them ripping at least two. Seibert connected on another home run, his third of the season, while Mears crushed a pair of doubles and Cody Dmiterchik added a two-bagger as well.
Sam Meck through a complete-game gem, holding the Spartans to one run on just three hits. The pitcher also walked three and struck out three as he guided the Wolverines to their second conference win of the year.
Wesley improves to 8-5 on the year and moves to 2-1 on the season. The Navy and White will play host to Misericordia University on Tuesday in a non-conference battle.
