KeAndre Jones kept his hitting streak going with a single in game one and three hits in game two. His streak is now at 15 games.
Eric Willey went seven strong innings in game one allowing just three runs before Cody Simet entered for a two-inning save in which he allowed one run. Sam Meck got the starting nod in game two and tossed seven innings for the win. Alex Marrs and Aaron Briggs each allowed one run in one inning of relief.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 1-0 lead in game one, plating a run in the bottom of the first. Eric Speidel led off with a walk and came around to score two batters later on an RBI groundout by Trey Mears.
Wesley allowed a run in the top of the second but scored two more in the third. Jones scored on an RBI double by Christopher Seibert, and Seibert came home on a productive out by Mike Calvarese, making it 3-1. The Wolverines used small-ball tactics to plate another run in the fifth and got a two-run single from Calvarese in the seventh to make it 6-3.
After allowing one run in the top of the eighth, the Wolverines brought home four in the bottom of the frame to extend their lead to 10-4. Cody Dmiterchik came around to score on an error before Calvarese ripped another RBI single and Morello slapped a two-run triple to the gap to give Wesley the insurance runs. Simet closed out the game in the ninth to give Wesley the victory.
In game two, Sam Meck kept the SVU bats quiet while Wesley continued to manufacture runs. The Wolverines scored one run in each of the second, third, and fourth innings to take a 3-0 lead. Meck allowed his first run in the top of the sixth, but the Wesley bats backed him up with four runs in the bottom of the frame, making it 7-1.
The Knights mounted a rally in the eighth inning, plating four runs on four hits and a Wesley error, but Wesley answered with a pair in the bottom of the inning, making it 9-5. SVU added another run in the ninth but it wasn't enough to topple the Wolverine lead as Wesley rolled to its fourth straight victory.
The Wolverines improve to 13-12 on the season with a 7-5 mark in the CAC. The squad will travel to Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday for another CAC matchup.
