YORK, Pa. - After leading the Wesley College Baseball team to a 20-17 record, including 11 conference wins and the team's ninth consecutive Capital Athletic Conference Tournament appearance, seniors Trevor Mears and Eric Speidel were named to the CAC All-Conference Second Team on Tuesday.
Mears batted .333 on the year, including a .350 mark in conference play. The outfielder stole a CAC-best 31 bases this season, scored 36 runs and drove in 36 as well. He recorded 13 doubles, a home run, and posted a 99.1% fielding percentage manning center field for the Wolverines in all 37 games this season.
Speidel led the squad with 48 runs scored on the year, setting the table for the big bats in the Wolverine lineup. The shortstop batted .365 on the year with eight doubles, a home run, and 18 runs batted in. As the Wolverines' every day shortstop, Speidel led the team with 124 assists and posted a 95.9% fielding percentage.
Both Speidel and Mears are a part of Wesley's six-member graduating senior class, but the Wolverines will return a strong nucleus to next year's roster.
