YORK, Pa. – The Wesley College baseball team were slated to finish seventh in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
The Wolverines received 37 points in the poll. Defending CAC Champion and preseason No. 24 ranked Salisbury were picked to win the conference with 77 points and six first-place votes. Frostburg St., who received votes in the preseason D3baseball.com poll, were second with 69 points and a first-place vote. Marymount was ranked third with 68 points and two first-place votes while Christopher Newport was fourth with 61 points and received the final first-place vote.
Led by sixth-year head coach Bret Underwood, the Wolverines are coming off a 20-win campaign in 2016 and their ninth straight appearance in the CAC Championship Tournament.
The Wolverines will open the 2017 season at home on Saturday, Feb. 25 when they take on the Norwich Cadets in a doubleheader. First pitch of the season is slated for noon from Bob Reed Field.
