Mears earns Team of the Week laurels

DOVER, Del. – Senior outfielder Trey Mears was named to the Team of the Week for the Week of Feb. 20-26.

Mears recorded a .737 average (14-for-19), 15 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, and nine runs scored in a 4-1 week for the Wolverines. Mears hit four doubles and posted an on-base percentage of .750 and a slugging percentage of .947. He set Wesley's single-game record for most RBIs in a single game when he drove in nine runs against Valley Forge on Thursday. Mears also hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel Wesley over No. 18 ranked Oswego State on Sunday.

The Capital Athletic Conference also honored Mears on Monday as the conference's hitter of the week.

Mears' honor was the first time since the 2013 season that a Wesley player was named to a Team of the Week.

The Wolverines will be back in action this weekend when they host the St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears in a three-game series. The series starts with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
