Mears earns second CAC Player of the Week honors

YORK, Pa. – Senior outfielder Trey Mears was named Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Week for the second time this season on April 17. Mears was also named CAC Player of the Week on Feb. 27.

Mears tallied a .556 batting average last week with four home runs and 11 RBIs to help the Wolverines clinch the No. 4 seed in the CAC Championship Tournament. Mears hit a home run in three of the four games on the week, scored eight times, registered four stolen bases. Last week, Mears posted a slugging percentage of 1.278 and got on base at a .609 clip.

At the end of the regular season, Mears leads the CAC in batting average (.517), on-base percentage (.580), slugging percentage (.750), hits (62), runs (50) and stolen bases (38). Mears also ranks second in the conference in runs batted in (44) behind teammate Chris Seibert and is also tied for second in doubles (14) with Seibert.

The Wolverines (17-13, 9-9 CAC) will open play in the CAC Championship Tournament on Tuesday, April 18 when they head up to Pennsylvania to take on the third-seeded York (Pa.) Spartans. First pitch is at 3:30 p.m.
