DOVER, Del. – Standout senior outfielder Trey Mears capped off his stellar 2017 with First Team All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and

Mears is the first player in program history to be on the All-America team after capturing First Team All-South Region accolades from the ABCA and earlier in the week. Mears was also honored by the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Co-Player of the Year and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Player of the Year in 2017.

"It's a great honor for Trey," head coach Bret Underwood stated. "It is well deserved and a culmination of all the hard work he has put in, both on and off the field. I couldn't be more proud of him."

Mears led the CAC in batting average (.500), runs batted in (54), stolen bases (41), on-base percentage (.568) and slugging percentage (.772). He also ranked second in hits (68), runs scored (56) and total bases (105).

As of the latest NCAA stat report, Mears leads the nation in batting average, runs per game (1.65), RBIs per game (1.59) and stolen bases per game (1.21). Mears also knocked seven home runs with 14 doubles on the year. Mears reached base in all 34 games and registered a hit in 30 of Wesley's 34 games. He was a two-time ECAC South and CAC Player of the Week and twice on the Team of the Week in 2017.

Mears sits in the top-10 in multiple career categories for Wesley. Mears ranks first all-time in doubles (46), tied for first in hits (222) and stolen bases (103), third in runs batted in (147) and games played (159) and fourth in runs scored (154).
