Baseball opens season in North Carolina against Frostburg St.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Wesley College baseball team dropped their season-opening doubleheader to the Frostburg St. Bobcats on Friday in North Carolina.

Frostburg St. held Wesley to one-hit in a 7-0 loss in the opener of the doubleheader.

Alexander Weber got Wesley's lone hit of the game with a single to left field in the top of the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, Jordan Marucci reached on an error by the left fielder and advanced to second base to open the inning. Marucci advanced a batter later on a wild pitch but was stranded on third base with an inning-ending fielder's choice.

Joey Strazza got the start and stuck out six in 2.2 innings of work.

Frostburg's Colby Lee and Franco Velasquez combined to strikeout 12 Wesley batters in the one-hit effort.

Wesley got two runs across in the nightcap but were upended by Frostburg, 12-2.

Marucci hit a two-out RBI single in the top of the third inning that brought Jason Boc around to score from second base.

With two runners on in the sixth inning, Marucci came around to score on a throwing error by the Frostburg second baseman on an attempted double play.

Dustin Sutton, William Musser and David Whitlock all pitched two innings for the Wolverines in the second game of the doubleheader. Sutton and Musser each struck out a pair of batters.
