CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Wesley College baseball team fell on the road 9-2 to the Washington Shoremen on Wednesday.
Wesley was able to outhit Washington, 9-5 and stole six bases as a team. Wesley scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning. Alexander Weber led off the inning with a single to left field. After a walk by Dustin Sutton and a double steal, John Joines plated Weber on an RBI groundout. Sutton would score during William Musser's at-bat on a wild pitch.
Joines, Weber and Jordan Marucci all tallied two hits for Wesley. Sutton and Weber each stole two bases in the loss.
Colin Haywood pitched 5.1 solid innings in relief with six strikeouts and only allowed two hits.
Wesley returns home on Saturday when they host the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins in an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader. The twin bill starts at 12 p.m.
