Baseball drops conference doubleheader to Gwynedd Mercy

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College baseball team dropped both of their Atlantic East Conference games to the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins at home on Saturday.

Game 1: Gwynedd Mercy 8, Wesley 1

William Foster notched two hits, including a double to right field in the bottom of the seventh. Foster would come around to score after Kyle Schneider reached base on a fielder's choice.

On the mound, Kevin Schmitt registered five strikeouts through seven innings of work.

Sachael Sciarretta paced the Griffins in the first game with three RBIs.

Game 2: Gwynedd Mercy 11, Wesley 0

Foster and Cory Joines notched the only two hits for Wesley in the nightcap. Joey Strazza sat down six batters through five and two-thirds innings of relief for the Wolverines.  

Tommy Nardini, Ryan Keen and Dave Tatoian all drove in two runs each for Gwynedd Mercy.

Wesley will be back in action on Wednesday, April 3, when they hit the road to take on the Salisbury Sea Gulls. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
