ASTON, Pa. – The Wesley College baseball team picked up their first Atlantic East Conference win on Monday with a doubleheader split with the Neumann Knights.
Game 1 – Wesley 13, Neumann 6
All nine Wesley batters picked up a hit as the Wolverines used nine runs in the final three innings of the game to overwhelm Neumann in the opener.
Wesley scored first in the contest when William Foster and William Musser knocked in a pair of two-out RBIs to give Wesley the early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Neumann would take the 4-2 lead in the bottom half of the first.
Neumann didn't hold the lead long as Wesley tied the game at four in the second inning. After Kyle Schneider led the inning off with a double to right center and Cory Joines moved Schneider over on a sacrifice bunt, Dustin Sutton legged out a triple down the right field line to score Schneider from third base. Alexander Weber followed up Sutton with an RBI double to right center.
Wesley scored two more runs in the top of the fifth before Neumann tied the game at six in the bottom half of the fifth when Curt Yenchik hit a two-run homer.
Five runs came around to score in the sixth inning as Wesley took the 11-6 lead over Neumann. The sixth inning was highlighted by Jason Boc's two-run, two-out double to left center.
Game 2 – Neumann 16, Wesley 5
Wesley couldn't keep the momentum in the second game of the doubleheader as Neumann used a 13-run second inning to take the victory.
