Akia Jenkins, certified through the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA), is in her second year as a coach with the cheerleading program at Wesley College after previously serving as an assistant coach for the Wolverines.
No stranger to Wolverine Cheerleading, Jenkins was a three-year member of the team while studying Exercise Science at Wesley. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration at Wesley.
Jenkins was named Most Spirited in high school and was a
National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) All-America Nominee,
receiving awards for superior qualities in leadership, showmanship,
and technique. A native of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Jenkins
cheered at Gaithersburg High School under Coach Sheila
Harrison. As cheerleading captain, she organized and
instructed mini cheerleading camps within the area while earning a
Certificate of Recognition for The Community Outreach Program from
the Gaithersburg Police Department in 2002 and 2003.
