Mayes Named to Team of the Week
MINNEAPOLIS - Wesley College sophomore Chris Mayes (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after his performance in a 30-12 win over Salisbury.
Mayes led the Wesley defense with nine tackles, including eight solos as the Wolverines downed Salisbury. He had five tackles for loss as Wesley limited the Sea Gulls' 15th ranked rushing attack (260.7) to just 84 yards and 2.2 per carry. The sophomore also chipped in with a pair of sacks in the game.
The sophomore is now tied for second in Division III in tackles for loss with 19.5 on the season.
It is the second time this season he has been chosen to the D3football.com Team of the Week after also earning the honor on October 9.
Wesley, 8-0 and ranked third in both Division III national polls, hosts Division II Lake Erie College on November 7 at 1:00 PM at Scott D. Miller Stadium.
