Wesley Third in D3football.com Top 25

MINNEAPOLIS - The Wesley College football team is ranked third in the D3football.com Preseason Top 25 poll.

It is the third time this preseason that the Wolverines have checked in at No. 3. Both the USA Today Sports Weekly College Football Preview Special Edition and Lindy's rated Wesley third, while The Sporting News picked the Wolverines fifth.

Wesley finished 2009 fourth in the final D3football.com poll.

Defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater received 20 of the 25 first place votes to top the rankings, while Mount Union claimed the other five first place votes on the way to a No. 2 ranking.

After Wesley, Linfield - third in last year's final poll - rated fourth, and St. Thomas rounded out the top five.

One team on Wesley's 2010 schedule, Delaware Valley, is ranked tenth in the preseason poll. Three other 2010 opponents, Capital, Christopher Newport and Huntingdon are among the teams receiving votes.

The Wolverines open the season on September 4 at 1:00 at Christopher Newport.
