Putman, Howard Earn Spring Awards

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's Dakevis Howard (Wilmington, Del./Concord) and Tim Putman (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) earned the Wolverines 2011 Spring Outstanding Defensive and Offensive Player of the Year Awards at the conclusion of spring practice.

Howard missed the majority of 2010 due to injury, but was an All-Atlantic Central Conference performer in 2009, when he intercepted three passes and broke up 10.

Putman was named All-ACFC as a sophomore in 2010, his first as a starter at center on Wesley's offensive line.  He was also named a team captain for the 2011 season.

The duo will look to help the Wolverines continue their run of six straight NCAA appearances, including four trips the NCAA Division III Semifinals.

Last season, Wesley finished 12-1, winning a ninth ACFC Championship.  The team advanced to the NCAA Division III Semifinals and won the Lambert Meadowlands Trophy and the ECAC Team of the Year Award.
