Jones Named A Preseason All-American

LEESBURG, Va. – Wesley College junior Leon Jones has been named a Second Team Preseason Football All-American by the Beyond Sports Network, it was announced Monday afternoon. Jones was a third team All-America selection by the organization as a sophomore.

A five-foot-11 cornerback from Lindenwold, N.J., Jones led the Wolverines secondary with six interceptions, 32 tackles and ten pass breakups as a sophomore in 2011. In a comeback victory over Linfield, in the second round of the NCAA Playoffs, Jones returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown which is the second longest play in Wesley history.

Jones later closed out his sophomore season with a pair of interceptions at national runner-up Mount Union in the NCAA Semifinals.

The Wolverines, who open the 2012 season at East Texas Baptist on September 1, were ranked third in the USA Today Preseason Poll which was released earlier this month. Wesley was also ranked second in the Lindy's Sports Magazine Preseason Poll.
