Football Ranked Third In USA Today Preview

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College football team was ranked third in the USA Today 2012 Division III College Football Preview that hit newsstands earlier this month.  Taking the top position in the Preseason Poll is defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater with national runner-up Mount Union at two while North Central and Mary Hardin-Baylor round out the top five.

In the preview written by Pat Coleman, quarterback Justin Sottilare, who completed 61 percent of his passes and threw a single-season record 38 touchdowns in 2010, is featured, while running back Askia Jahad is one of two Division III athletes pictured.

The Wolverines finished 12-2 in 2011 with their third-straight trip to the national Semifinals.  Following the season, Wesley was named the ECAC Team of the Year and received the Lambert Meadowlands Trophy as the best small college football team in the East.

Wesley opens the season on September 1 when they travel to Marshall, Texas, to take on East Texas Baptist. Following a trip to Salisbury on September 8, the Wolverines home opener is scheduled for September 15 against No. 5 Mary Hardin-Baylor at 12 pm.
