Football Ranked 14th in 1st AFCA Poll of Year

WACO, Texas – The Wesley College football team is ranked 14th in the first American Football Coaches Association Division III Poll for 2013, it was announced on Monday. Mount Union was ranked first with 38 of the 42 first place votes, followed by Mary Hardin-Baylor who received the final four first place selections.

Rounding out the top five is Linfield, North Central and Hobart.  Platteville and Whitewater from Wisconsin are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively while Bethel, Oshkosh and Heidelberg are Nos. 8-10, in that order.

Just ahead of the Wolverines is Wheaton at 11, No. 12 St. Thomas and Johns Hopkins at 13 with Pacific Lutheran 15th.

Wesley (2-1), who sits 11th in the D3football.com Poll, returns to action on Saturday, September 28 when it travels to Birmingham-Southern who is receiving the tenth-most votes of teams not ranked in the Top 25.
