EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Members of the Wesley College football coaching staff attended the 2014 Eastern College Football Awards Banquet held on Thursday night in the Lexus Club at MetLife Stadium as the Wolverines were named the Division III ECAC Team of the Year. This was the fifth time that Wesley has received the honor, all of which have come in the last seven years.
"Winning the ECAC Team of the Year is a tremendous honor," Wolverines Head Coach Mike Drass said. "There is great football played on the East Coast and we are truly humbled to receive such a great award."
Other recipients of the award this year were Duke University (FBS), Towson University (FCS) West Chester (Division II). The Wolverines were chosen as the most outstanding team by coaches within the ECAC Division III membership and members of the media.
Recording a 10-3 record in 2013, Wesley made its ninth-straight NCAA Playoff appearance before falling to National Runner-up and top-ranked Mount Union, 62-59 in the Quarterfinals. The Wolverines battled back from a 31 point first quarter deficit and outscored the Raiders, 39-14 in the second half. Wesley was ranked seventh in both the AFCA and D3football.com Polls to close out the 2013 season.
