DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's Kyle George and Aamir Petrose were both named to the D3football.com Team of the Week it was announced by the website late on Wednesday. This is the first time that the Wolverines have had two players earn Team of the Week honors since the 2013 season opener.
A junior tight end from Willingboro, N.J., George is earning the honor for the second time in his career, with the first coming after a career day in a win over Division I Charlotte last November. George nearly matched his numbers from that game in a 47-7 win over Southern Virginia last weekend when he caught seven passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns while playing just the first half with Wesley holding a lead by the same final score.
For his efforts, George, who has recorded 14 catches for 214 yards and two touchdowns this season, was also named the Wolverine of the Week as well.
Petrose is also a second time recipient of the award. A senior defensive end from Woodbury, N.J., Petrose had three tackles in the win over the Knights, all of which were sacks, and also broke up a pass.
In four games this season, Petrose has nine tackles with a team-high 8.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. Petrose also has been credited with three pass breakups and three more quarterback hurries.
The 4th-ranked Wolverines (4-0) return to action on Saturday, October 4 when they host Louisiana College in a 1 pm kickoff.
