#4 Football Partakes in Jumpstart Read for the Record Program at Fairview Elementary

DOVER, Del. – As part of the Jumpstart Read for the Record program, several Wesley College football players and coaches read to students at Fairview Elementary School in Dover last week.  The book of choice by the Jumpstart family was Bunny Cakes, a comical story of sibling bonding and birthday shenanigans, by bestselling author and illustrator Rosemary Wells.

The idea of reading to the kids came from Jen Plews, a school teacher at Fairview Elementary. Plews mentioned the program to her husband and it seemed like a great thing to get involved in. Her husband, Shawn Plews, is the Wolverines' running backs coach and special team's coordinator.

Jumpstart's Read for the Record is a campaign designed to bring attention to the importance of early education. By encouraging hundreds of thousands of children and adults to read the same book on the same day, Jumpstart aims to break a world record and to make early education a national priority.

The fourth-ranked Wolverines (8-0) are coming off a 75-12 victory at Virginia-Lynchburg last Saturday and host College of Faith at 12 pm on Saturday, November 1.  Prior to the game, Wesley will recognize over 20 seniors who will appear in their final regular season games at Scott D. Miller Stadium.
