DOVER, Del. - After improving to 8-0 on the season and 7-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with a 56-22 victory over Montclair State University on Saturday, the Wesley College football team moved up a spot in the national rankings.
After several weeks of treading water as the fourth-ranked team in the nation, Wesley was voted up to No. 3 in the nation in the American Football Coaches' Association Poll. In the D3football.com poll, the Wolverines remained stagnant as the fourth-ranked team in the nation.
In both polls, the 8-0 Wolverines were voted behind Mount Union and Linfield (Ore.), both undefeated as well. In the D3football.com poll, Wesley was placed behind Wisconsin-Oshkosh, who holds a season record of 7-1.
Wesley will look to improve to 9-0 on the season and 8-0 in the NJAC when they take on local rival Salisbury University on Saturday, Nov. 7. The Wolverines have beaten the Sea Gulls in each of the last 10 seasons. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
