DOVER, Del. - There was tension in the room as the Wesley College football coaches gathered around Head Coach Mike Drass' desk to watch the NCAA Selection Show, but the attitude quickly turned from uncertainty to determination as the Wolverines were granted an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night.
Wesley's 11th straight NCAA Tournament appearance will begin on Nov. 21 when they play host to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) champions Framingham State University.
The Rams finished their season with a 9-1 record with their only loss coming to NCAA Tournament qualifier SUNY Cortland early in the year. The FSU squad finished a perfect 8-0 in the MASCAC, with an offense that averaged 39.5 points per game.
Wesley has only ever faced Framingham State once before, taking on the Rams in the 1995 season opener; Wesley earned a 55-0 victory in that game. The Wolverines will bring their best in hopes of improving upon their 24-11 NCAA Tournament record.
A full preview of the NCAA Tournament First Round contest between Wesley and Framingham State will be released later in the week. To view the entire NCAA Division III Tournament bracket, click here.
