DOVER, Del. - After dismantling the Southern Virginia defense with body blow after body blow, Wesley's running back tandem of Jamar Baynard and E.J. Lee each earned a weekly award from the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Cooper Bentz was also honored for his role in the victory.
Baynard earned NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after tying the Wesley program record for single-game touchdowns during the Wolverines' 63-9 NJAC road win at Southern Virginia. In the victory, he averaged 9.0 yards per carry, finishing the contest with 162 yards on just 18 carries along with five rushing touchdowns. His five scoring runs tied a Wesley record which had stood for 10 seasons. Baynard currently ranks fourth in the NJAC in rushing (97.0 yards per game).
Lee was named NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors after helping Wesley secure a 63-9 NJAC road win at Southern Virginia. In just the fourth game of his collegiate career, he averaged 6.5 yards per carry, with a career-high 91 yards on 14 attempts with two rushing touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game with a 28-yard receiving touchdown out of the backfield. Lee, who finished the game with 119 total yards of offense, currently ranks 12th in the NJAC in rushing.
Bentz earned NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after helping the Wolverines improve to 2-1 in conference with a 63-9 NJAC road win at Southern Virginia. In just the third NJAC contest of his collegiate career, he averaged 45.7 yards per punt on three attempts, including a career-long 54-yard effort. He also downed one punt inside of the SVU 20-yard line. Bentz currently leads the NJAC in punting average (42.5).
The Wolverines will return to action on Saturday October 8 when they host TCNJ as part of Homecoming Weekend.
