DANBURY, Conn. - After helping the Wesley College Football team to their fourth-straight win, a 24-17 victory over No. 21 Rowan University, senior linebacker Ben Robinson and freshman kickoff specialist Aaron Nelson were named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week and ECAC Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Robinson, a Suitland, Md. native, helped Wesley remain tied for first-place in the conference with a key 24-17 NJAC road win at Rowan. In Wesley's fourth straight victory, he tallied a team-high 12 tackles, including nine solo stops. He also notched 3.5 tackles for a loss, an interception, and a pass defended to help his squad remain tied for the conference lead.
Nelson, a native of Hamburg, Pa., played a key role in Wesley's 24-17 NJAC road win at Rowan. Kicking in extreme wind conditions on a day in which field position was key, he kicked off four times, pinning Rowan deep in its own territory after each kickoff. He finished the game by averaging 62.5 yards-per-kickoff with one touchback.
Robinson, Nelson, and the Wolverines will play host to Montclair State University in another New Jersey Athletic Conference clash on Saturday, October 29.
