DOVER, Del. – The 2017 Wesley College football schedule was announced on Thursday.
The Wolverines will open the 2017 slate with three-game away series, including a Thursday night matchup on Aug. 31 against the Delaware Valley Aggies. After a bye week, the Wolverines will head north to begin New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play on Sept. 16 at Noon against the College of New Jersey Lions and on Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. against the William Patterson Pioneers.
On Sept. 30, the Wolverines will play host to the Southern Virginia Knights in their 2017 home opener at Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium starting at 1 p.m.
Following a road contest on Oct. 7 against conference rival Frostburg State Bobcats, the Wolverines play back-to-back home dates against the Kean Cougars (Oct. 14) and the Rowan Profs (Oct. 21).
The Wolverines will wrap up their road regular season schedule on Oct. 28 in New Jersey to take on the Montclair State Redhawks starting at 1 p.m.
The Wolverines will close out the 2017 regular season with a two-game homestand against the Salisbury Seagulls on Nov. 4 and the Christopher Newport Captains on Nov. 11 for Senior Day. Both games are scheduled for a Noon kickoff.
The Wolverines has had great success under head coach Mike Drass, who is entering his 25th year leading the Wolverines in 2017. Since 2005, the Wolverines are one of three teams in the nation to have earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament each year. In those 12 seasons, the Wolverines have won six NCAA East Region titles and have the fourth-most wins in Division III in that span, notching 134 victories. The Wolverines have also clinched at least a share of the NJAC Championship in back-to-back seasons.
Wesley football is scheduled to begin spring practice on Sunday, March 12 with the annual spring game taking place on Sunday, April 9 at 2 p.m.
