Wesley football wraps up spring practice with spring game

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College football team finished up their spring schedule with their annual spring game held at Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium on Sunday.

The game featured special teams drills, a lineman challenge and a 7-on-7 scrimmage between the offense and the defense.

Following the scrimmage head coach Mike Drass named the Most Outstanding Spring Players and the captains for the 2017 season.

Sophomore safety/wide receiver Coray Williams and sophomore offensive lineman Terren Carter were named Most Outstanding Spring Players.

"Coray is one of the better football players we have," Drass said. "We have to find a spot for him on the field whether it be on offense or defense. Terren is person that has excelled academically, socially and athletically ever since he stepped foot on Wesley's campus. Terren has done everything right for this team."

Drass later named four seniors as captains for the 2017 season. Linebacker Samer Manna, offensive lineman Blake Roberts, defensive end Isaiah Ingram and offensive lineman Matt Gono all earned captain status.

"It shows the experience and maturity of this team that we have four great senior leaders as our captains for the 2017 season. Each of them have worked hard to achieve this and I look forward to them helping develop other players on and off of the field."

The Wesley College football team will open up the 2017 season on the road on Thursday, Aug. 31 when they travel to Doylestown, Pa. to take on the Delaware Valley Aggies. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
