DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College football team was picked 13th in the annual Street & Smith Division III Preseason Poll. Senior offensive lineman Matt Gono was tabbed as a Preseason All-America selection by Street & Smith.
Street & Smith is the second national publication that Wesley has appeared in the Preseason Top 25. Lindy's Sports ranked the Wolverines eighth in the country in their preseason poll.
Gono's Street & Smith Preseason All-America honor is the second of the summer for the 6-4, 309-pound lineman from Cinnaminson, N.J. Lindy's also named Gono on their Preseason All-America team earlier in the week. Gono is a two-time D3football.com All-Region First Team and All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) First Team member.
Wesley made their 12th consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2016 after collecting a share of the NJAC Regular Season Championship for the second-straight season and the conference's automatic bid to the playoffs.
The Wolverines will open the 2017 slate on the road on Thursday, Aug. 31 when they take on the Delaware Valley Aggies in Doylestown, Pa. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
