PITMAN, N.J. – Three Wesley College football players picked up New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Player of the Week honors for their performances in Wesley's 49-0 win over Southern Virginia on Saturday.
Junior quarterback Khaaliq Burroughs earned NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Burroughs completed 79 percent of his pass attempts, finishing the game 15-for-19 for 181 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed on the ground with four carries for 14 yards and a rushing score. Burroughs currently ranks second in the NJAC in pass efficiency (170.0).
Freshman running back Marcquan Greene collected the NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week award. In his first collegiate game, Greene averaged 12.5 yards per carry, finishing the day with 50 total yards on just four attempts. His 27-yard fourth quarter run currently stands as the second longest run of the season by a Wesley player. The selection of Greene marks the third consecutive week that a Wolverine has garnered NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors.
Freshman defensive end Stefon Woodruff earned his second NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week honor of the season after tallying five tackles, including three solo stops, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Woodruff currently ranks tied for second in the NJAC in sacks (6.0).
The No. 19 ranked Wolverines will hit the road next Saturday when they clash with the No. 11 ranked Frostburg St. Bobcats. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
