Wesley Football participates in “Read Across America” at Fairview Elementary

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College football team joined Fairview Elementary School on Thursday as part of their "Read Across America" series.

Several players and coaches read their favorite children's book to kindergarten to fourth-grade students at Fairview, as part of Wesley Football's community service initiative to encourage and build lifelong readers.

"It was great to spend time with the kids," said senior offensive tackle Matt Gono. "All of the kids seemed to have a positive attitude and enjoyed interacting with the team.

"It's important to get our players involved in the community and establishing relationships by promoting reading," stated head coach Mike Drass.

The event was organized by Mrs. Jennifer Plews, a 2002 graduate of Wesley. Mrs. Plews husband Shawn is a former all-conference tight end and current Special Teams Coordinator and Running Backs Coach on the Wesley staff.
