SALEM, Va. – Senior offensive tackle Matt Gono was recently named to the 2017 D3football.com All-America Third Team.

Last week, Gono was named First Team All-America by the American Football Coaches Association and the Associated Press. Gono is the first Wolverine to earn All-America status from at least three of the major Division III football media outlets since Joe Callahan in 2015.

It is Gono's second D3football.com All-America honor of his career after being selected D3footall.com All-America Honorable Mention in 2015.

A Gagliardi Trophy semifinalist, Gono is a three-time D3Football.com All-East Region and New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) First Team honoree. He is also a two-time All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star.

Gono did not allow a sack all year and helped lead the Wolverines to the best offense in the NJAC with 5,295 total yards, including 2,477 yards on the ground. He paved the way for five All-NJAC Players, including NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, ECAC All-Star and D3football All-Region running back E.J. Lee.

Lee ranks fifth in Division III in rushing touchdowns (22), seventh in rushing yards (1,582) and 14th in yards per game (131.8).

One of the best offensive linemen in the country regardless of division, all 32 NFL teams have been to Wesley's campus to see Gono play.
