Dover, Del. – No. 12/13 Wesley College football team advanced to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the NJAC after defeating Kean 27-13 on Saturday, November 9th.
Kean began scoring in the first quarter of the game on a 33-yard interception return to take the lead 6-0. The Wolverines answered back with a team safety to bring the score to 6-2 going into the second quarter.
Unsuccessful in scoring on the next possession, the Wolverines settled for 26-yard field goal by Nick Bruhn to bring it to a one-point game. Corterris Simpson scored next on a 16-yard pass from David Marrocco (kick was good), 12-6.
The Cougars responded quickly and on 3rd and goal scored by way of a 6-yard touchdown pass to pull the score within 13-12 going into halftime.
Wesley pulled off another touchdown by Marcellus Pack on an 87-yard run (kick by Bruhn good) late in the fourth quarter to end the game 27-13.
Tommy Tanner led the defense with three solo tackles and five assists for a total of eight tackles. Dante Daniel racked up seven total tackles, five solo, two assists and two sacks, adding 3 tackles for loss for 12 yards.
The Wolverines will remain home next week as they host Christopher Newport for the last regular season game. This game will also be Wesley's Senior day game. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
