Wesley Drops Season Opener

Box Score

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College kept a powerful William Paterson offense off the scoreboard during the first half, but Meghan Hall scored three of the Pioneers five goals in the second half as William Paterson broke the game open and claimed a 5-0 win.

The Pioneers controlled play in most of the opening half, but the Wolverine defense held, limiting William Paterson to just three shots in the opening 35 minutes.  Over the final 10 minutes of the half, momentum shifted to Wesley, as the home team peppered seven shots down the stretch.  The Wolverines were unable to find the back of the cage, however, and the teams entered the half knotted at 0-0.

Hall scored two of her three goals on the day in the first 10 minutes of the second half as the Pioneers went ahead 2-0.  Chelsea Winkelspecht her lone goal of the day at 46:16, before Hall's third score seven minutes later.  Amanda Sheehan finished off the scoring at 67:24 with an assist from Tina Londino.

Jodi Feriod notched an assist on Hall's game-winner.

Christina Auger made seven saves to pick up the shut out.

Sarah Johnson stopped two shots for Wesley, who out shot the Pioneers 14-to-11 on the afternoon.

Wesley travels to Washington (Md.) on Wednesday, September 3 for 6:00 PM start.
