ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - After a scoreless first half, Wesley College scored twice in the first 11 minutes of the second half for a 2-0 win at St. Mary's (Md.) in the Wolverines' Capital Athletic Conference opener.
Brooke Tadlock (Middletown, Del./Middletown) scored her fourth goal of the season and the 30th of her career to break a scoreless tie with a reverse sweep into the right corner with an assist from Danielle Tearl (Middletown, Del./Middletown) just under five minutes into the second half.
Later in the half, Hannah Wilson (Dover, Del./Dover) crossed the ball to Kori Isken (Montchanin, Del./St. Mark's), who gave Wesley (5-0, 1-0 CAC) a 2-0 lead.
Sarah Johnson (Honeybrook, Pa./Twin Valley), Elizabeth Groom (Bear, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) and Amanda Hudson (Frederica, Del./St. Thomas More) combined on the shutout in goal for the Wolverines. Johnson made nine saves in the opening 63:49.
Caitlin Cromer stopped a pair of shots for the Seahawks, who fell to 2-2 and 1-2 in conference action.
Tadlock became just the fifth player in school history to tally at least 30 goals. The score also gave the junior 70 career points, tying her for sixth all-time at Wesley.
Wesley will look for its sixth straight win when the Wolverines complete a five game road trip at Rosemont on September 15.
