LYNCHBURG, Va. - Wesley College's seven game win streak to open the season came to a halt as the Wolverines dropped a 4-1 final at No. 14 Lynchburg in non-conference field hockey action.

The two teams went into the half tied at 1-1 after a goal by Jessica Franklin (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) knotted the score at 12:27.  Lynchburg (7-2) had picked up a quick score just 1:07 into the game by Jordan Warrington.

The Hornets, however, scored three times in the second half, outshooting Wesley 25-5.  Allie Weir broke the tie and added an insurance goal all in the first 10 minutes of the second half before a late goal by Jenny Weir sealed the win.

Sarah Johnson (Honeybrook, Pa./Twin Valley) made 14 saves in goal for Wesley (7-1) before giving way to Elizabeth Groom (Bear, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) for the final minute. 

Amanda Fisher (Felton, Del./Lake Forest), Samantha Russum (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) and Dana Keller (Dover, Del./Dover) each had a defensive save in the contest. 

Sarah Cates stopped five shots for the Hornets.

Nicole Hill (Pocomoke, Md./Holly Grove) assisted on the Wolverines only goal.

Wesley is back in action on September 29 when the team hosts Delaware Valley at 7:00 PM.
