DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College field hockey team honored its four seniors before claiming a 4-2 win over Frostburg State in non-conference action.
The Wolverines honored seniors Amanda Fisher (Felton, Del./Lake Forest), Amber Tank (New Castle, Del./William Penn), Erin Bailey (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) and Brooke Bennett (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) before the contest, then scored twice in the opening 7:38 to take control of the game.
Junior Brooke Tadlock (Middletown, Del./Middletown) scored her 10th goal of the season to open the scoring just 5:05 into the contest. Just two and a half minutes later, Nicole Hill (Pocomoke, Md./Holly Grove) doubled Wesley's lead with an assist from Abigail Hill (Dover, Del./Lake Forest) for a 2-0 lead.
The Bobcats pulled to within one on a corner in the 11th minute of action. Brooke Tapman fielded the corner at the top of the circle and dished to Lindsey Frost who scored to make it 2-1.
Sheree Pleasanton (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) brought Wesley's lead back to two goals in the 24th with her fourth tally of the season. The Wolverines built the lead up to three with a score by Daniel Tearl (Middletown, Del./Middletown) with just 25 seconds left before the half. Tadlock assisted on the goal, giving her 82 career points and moving her past Lynda Carey for fourth place all-time at Wesley.
In the second half, Frostburg State scored the lone goal, a late tally by Chelsea Smith in the 62nd minute.
Maggie Edwards stopped 19 shots in the loss for the Bobcats.
Sarah Johnson (Honeybrook, Pa./Twin Valley) made six saves for the Wolverines before giving way to Amanda Hudson (Frederica, Del./St. Thomas More) for the final nine minutes.
Wesley's win was its 11th of the season, marking the 12th consecutive year the team has won at least that many games.
The Wolverines remain at home for a non-conference clash with No. 17 Juniata on October 20.
