READING, Pa. - Alvernia's Jenelle Lynch had two goals and an assist as fifth seeded Wesley fell 4-0 to the fourth seeded Crusaders in the first round of the ECAC Mid Atlantic Championships.
Lynch broke a scoreless tie in the 15th minute with an unassisted tally before Katy Eby scored in the 23rd minute for a 2-0 lead. Alvernia (12-8) stretched it to 3-0 at the half with a goal by Samantha Landis with no time left on the clock, assisted by Lynch.
Landis returned the favor, assisting on Lynch's second goal of the night, just over three minutes into the second half.
The Wolverines (12-10) tried to battle back, outshooting Alvernia 7-1 over the remainder of the contest, but Wesley could not find the back of the cage.
Sarah Johnson (Honeybrook, Pa./Twin Valley) made seven saves for the Wolverines.
Alvernia's Abby Eby stopped seven shots to notch the shutout.
