No. 19 Juniata Tops Wesley

HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. - Playing its third straight nationally ranked opponent, the Wesley College field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 19 Juniata in a contest played at Lower Dauphin High School.

The Wolverines' Hannah Wilson (Dover, Del./Dover) turned in her first career multi-goal effort, but the Eagles countered with a three assist performance by Molly Snyder.

Snyder picked up her first assist of the night when she aided on a Kim Amrod score in the seventh minute.  She assisted on the next goal as well, before Wilson cut the Juniata lead in half with a tally in the 21st minute.

The Eagles scored two more times late in the first half, however, to put the game out of reach.  Caitlyn Bowman and Kara Buda scored within two minutes of one another to give Juniata a 4-1 advantage at the intermission.

Wesley got the only marker of the second half when Wilson scored in the 38th minute.

Gracie Daniels (Princess Anne, Md./Washington) assisted on Wilson's first goal, while Madison Leone (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) helped on the second.

In addition to Snyder's three assists, Shauna Deschenes chipped in for Juniata with a goal and an assist.

Elizabeth Groom (Bear, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) and Amanda Hudson (Frederica, Del./St. Thomas More) each played a half in cage for the Wolverines.  Groom stopped six shots in the opening 35 minutes, but also allowed four goals.  Hudson stopped both shots she faced in the second half.

Juniata's Janelle Howard allowed two goals in 55 minutes without making a save before Shelby Miller stopped one shot in relief.

The Eagles outshot Wesley 19-6 in the game.

The Wolverines return to Capital Athletic Conference action against Frostburg State on the road on September 25 at 1:00 PM.
