Wolverines Devour Bobcats

Wesley's field hockey team defeated Frostburg, 4-1 early Sunday evening.

The Wolverines attacked the Bobcats as soon as they stepped on the field. Just after 19 minutes into the first half, the Wolverines put numbers on the board with a goal by Tristin Burris (Camden, Del./Polytech), assisted by Danielle Tearl (Middletown, Del./Middletown). In the 32nd minute, Rachel Joyner (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) added to the lead with an unassisted goal. Wesley outshot Frostburg 16 to four in the first half.

Less than five minutes into the second half, senior Sheree Pleasanton (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) scored her fifth goal of the season, putting Wesley up 3-0. Tearl earned her second assist of the evening. In the 66th minute of play, Devin Price (Milton Del./Cape Henlopen) scored an insurance goal to close out the game with a 4-1 win. Senior Dana Keller (Dover, Del./Dover) recieved the assist.

Wesley finished the game outshooting Frostburg 35-9. Goaltender Elizabeth Groom (Bear, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) made five saves for the game. Maggie Edwards had 22 saves.

The Wolverines advanced their record to 6-3 and improved their conference record to 2-0.

Wesley's next contest is a home game on Tuesday, September 27 against Washington College at 7:00pm.
