FREDERICK, Md. - Wesley scored once in each half and the Wolverine defense limited Hood to just five shots in the game in a 2-0 win in Capital Athletic Conference field hockey.
The victory moved the Wolverines to 4-0 in conference action on the year, keeping Wesley in a first place tie with Salisbury atop the standings.
Brittany Blacksten (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) scored the game-winner in the 20th minute with a blast from the right side to put the Wolverines (8-5, 4-0 CAC) ahead 1-0 at the intermission.
In the second half, Sheree Pleasanton (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) scored her seventh goal of the year off an assist from Rachel Joyner (Camden, Del./Caesar Rodney) in the 56th minute off of a corner to put the game away.
Elizabeth Groom (Bear, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) started in goal and went untested in the first half, while Amanda Hudson (Frederica, Del./St. Thomas More) made three stops in the second half in relief.
Ying Van Schaik made 13 saves in goal for the Blazers, while Michelle Buhrman was credited with three defensive saves.
The Wolverines held a 36-5 advantage in shots and attempted 23 corners compared to just three for Hood.
