Field Hockey Edged by #11 CNU

DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's field hockey team fell to No. 11 Christopher Newport, 1-0, on a soggy Saturday morning at Scott D. Miller Stadium.  The Wolverines fall to 8-5 on the year with a 1-1 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference while the Captains remain undefeated at 13-0 and 3-0 in league play.

Christopher Newport's goal came at 13:01 when Allie Hackbarth blasted a shot from 25 yards out.  The ball deflected off a Wesley defender and past goalkeeper Sarah Daniels who made 12 saves on the day.

Wesley was outshot, 23-7, on the day with Lauren Mears taking three shots and Madison Leone, two.  Leone was also credited with a defensive save while Erin McGrath also recorded one.

Bailey Lien made three saves in the victory for CNU while Jordan Snider tallied a defensive save.

The Wolverines host Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, October 13 in a 3 pm start.  Prior to the game, the Wolverines will honor its five seniors in a pregame ceremony.
