St. Mary’s Edges Field Hockey in Strokes

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Wesley College's field hockey team fell in penalty strokes at St. Mary's,  2-1, in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.  The Wolverines now stand at 8-9 overall and 1-4 in the CAC while the Seahawks move to 9-5 and 2-3 in league play.

St. Mary's took a 1-0 lead into the half on a goal by Claire Kortyna at 20:46.  Assisitng on the play was Alli Szymanski as her pass was deflected into the far post.

Brittany Blacksten scored the tying goal on an assist by Gracie Daniels in the 51st minute.

Lauren Mears was the only Wolverine who converted in strokes, while Brady Wolf and Ally Dahlen beat Sarah Daniels for the game-winner.

Daniels was credited with 11 saves in the loss for Wesley, who concludes the regular season against Salisbury at 7 pm on October 30.
